Review of Kendal Calling 2017

2017 was my third year in a row at Kendal Calling and as usual the atmosphere was fantastic and there was lots of variety in terms of food, music and activities. However I think the lineup this year catered to an older audience and younger festival goers had a lot less to do as the main stage acts weren't as appealing to all ages. The site is brilliant but the Glow Tent is far too small and should be made bigger as some big names such as Example and Tom Zanetti bring in massive crowds. The site would also benefit from gravel or chipping along the larger walkways to reduce the bogginess of the mud. Overall another excellent weekend at Kendal Calling :)

Absolutely loved it. Apart from the mud (it is a festival after all!) my daughter and myself had an excellent time. We enjoyed listening to new music and bands especially gypsies of Bohemia and marthagunn and the well known headliners. Getting our stuff from the car to the campsite was tricky and it would've been great if it was closer. The only other minor complaints was being gluten free I found it really tricky to find suitable food to eat bar 2 places. One fish & chip van and an excellent crepe van who could accommodate me. Prices, I thought, however were rather steep across the board. I would go again though.

This was one muddy weekend! So you would think that having the shower pass was worth the money, unfortunately it wasn't. You have to get changed in a communal area where mothers had brought their young son's (which was quiet inappropriate), this area was also very muddy. You then walk to a cubical which hosts about 8 showers, this is ok and when the hot water hits you it feels amazing. But then you have to walk back through the mud to get to the communal changing area. I also had to que for ages. The staff said this was due to people taking their clothes into the shower with them, this wasn't true (only 2 of the 8 showers were in use when i actually got in). It was because of waiting for a raffle ticket to stick to your wellies as you have to remove all outdoor footwear before you can go through!
I also paid extra to use the Miss Polly's luxury toilet inside the event but when i went to the shower stand they didn't give me an extra band which told the staff inside the arena i was a paying customer. So i was refused entry to something i had paid money to use.
Would i buy this again? NO - wet wipes all the way!

Absolutely awful the Gand rail was extremely dangerous Iwe all nearly fell . They ran out of plastic over shoes to put because of the weather by 10.30. The luxury toilets were dirty not being maintained with not running hot water on several occasions.Also staff were rude .

Absolute waste of money. Had to que up for 40 mins for a shower and that wasn't just at peak time that was all day long. The showers were very poor, water trickled out and there was nowhere to put a towel. Left the showers just as muddy as I went in! The toilets were alright but not very slippy when muddy as a number of people slipped and hurt themselves. The cubicles were also very small which was annoying with a backpack and coats. All in all, £35 for this pass was day light robbery, I will not use again!

So disappointed. We paid good money to upgrade to having showers and flushing toilets. Within a couple of days the toilets were in a poor condition. There were a few where the flushing handle didn't work which defeated the object. One of them had a broken lock so you had to jam your leg against the door to keep it shut, hard work when you only have small legs! It was very muddy due to constant rain which Club Class don't have any control over but things would have been bearable if they had hosed down the steps and toilet areas as by day 3 it was getting positively dangerous to get in and out without falling down the steps. If we go to next year's festival we will not be buying a Luxury Pass.

The event was very muddy so expected there to be mud around the toilets and showers. Would have expected the shower area to be cleaned of the mud though and therefore we didn't use the showers. The toilets were just as bad but were at least the floors were scraped off of mud. But the toilet tissue was then neglected so on numerous occasions there was no loo roll in a number of stalls. All in all a waste of money in my opinion.

First time for me this year, was surprised how big it is. Great adventures for the children. Parking could do with more stewards. Music was good, and it felt like you was in a sort of festival village. With different places to eat and different small enclosed bars with live music. Loved garden of Eden. The only thing I could suggest at this time is that each camp site maybe have their own shower block, the family camping didn't seem to have one close. But I will deffo be back next year and do the Thursday till Monday. Thank Kendal. See you in the fields. 🐯

Waste of money getting club class tickets . Waiting time to use facilities was long . Showers weren't the cleanest. Niece used faulty hair dryer and burnt a section of her hair. I think you need more showers . My partner never used pass in the end as queuing was an issue.

I've been searching for who to complain to about this since arriving home. All weekend the toilets were barely usable and were filthy. The showers were disgusting and even in all the mud and what ever else, our group thought it safer and possibly cleaner to just not wash.
Inside was the biggest joke. Miss pollys was ran by a man who was letting in people if they bought him a drink. The queues were longer than the actual portaloos and they completely over sold the tickets. I've since been told this is clubclass's final year at Kendal and that because of this they basically did what they wanted and tried to get as much money out of everyone as possible. Our group paid almost £400 to use the facilities. I'm disgusted at this and am looking for a refund.

What was I actually paying got for at Kendal calling Club Class Luxury Pass

To say this this was an absolute joke is an understatement! What were we actually paying for?? Festivals are expected to have rain and mud, understandably-However when the floors of the "luxury showers are lined with carpet with mud soaking through and you were having to walk through mud to get to the showers to walk back out..clean and walk through mud to get to your clothes and wellies....POINTLESS! When the flooring was finally put down to avoid the mud all of the wellies were moved, However mine had been launched into a puddle of mud my a member of staff and the inside of my wellies was covered and soaked with mud, no apology from staff when this was reported to them and it was ignored....that was just the first day!! 2nd day, expectedly there was a que for the showers. However when the men's que was moving quickly you would have thought that a member of staff would have used commen sense and made opened up some of the showers that weren't being used by the men and used these to ease congestion on the que of the women's showers.. after waiting for about an hour and a half went to use the hair dryers and half of them were broken or not working and had to wait to use one as soon as someone else had finished but annoying that the broken dryers had not been replaced! Went to use the 'luxury' toilets and half of them were unable to be used because they were blocked because they were full and nearly over flowing!! I could continue but as the third day just mirrors the first and second day...absolutely disgraceful and that fact that so many people complain to staff who clearly really couldn't care less! What a waste of money!!!!!!!

I bought the passes hoping it would be better for us as a family and having young children. First night we couldn't even find the Miss Polly.
Thought there would of been more toilets. My little ones couldn't walk all the way from family camping to the toilets.
I did manage a shower and it was lovely and hot but I wouldn't be buying again, feel a bit cheated! If I knew about the distance to the toilets, I wouldn't of bothered . Definitely not worth the money.
