Review of Kendal Calling 2017
Fantastic, year 3 this year and it just gets better :)
Great music, great site, great staff & the extras like 'lost eden' and amazing.
Just one bad point for me this year, we upgraded to a bell tent for the first time, the field was great but the showers were rubbish! Cold, dirty & tiny, very disappointing compared to the facilities on other fields.

brilliant event, absolutely kid friendly - my 10 and 11 year old loved it. yes it rained and yes it was muddy as - but didn't detract from the amazing atmosphere
music was for everyone - there are so many tents for different genres of tunes - from rave to club to dance to ska to rock ... loads and loads
take your own food as its costly eating out much - and upgrade to the posh toilets with showers - an absolute must.
booked for next year

Wouldn't recommend again, there should of been wooden floor boards in the shower room, when you came out of the shower you just got more muddy then when you went in.

Review of Kendal Calling 2017
Music was pretty good but the lineup definitely wasn't as good as previous years (this was my first time).
I appreciate that it rained a lot but there was just way too much mud. I left Saturday & my husband left Sunday as it was just horrible.
The toilets were an absolute disgrace. The entire site smelled of them & having toilets that didn't flush was disgusting. People going in & actually being sick due to the smell & the state of them. Wish I was exaggerating but I'm not. I appreciate they can't be cleaned every 5 minutes but a bit more effort should of been made. Especially with small children having to use them.
Paid extra for "luxury" toilets & showers. Biggest waste of money ever! Once everyone was on site the queue for the showers was beyond a joke. Managed to get a shower Friday morning due to the site being a bit quieter. Although outdoor footwear wasn't permitted in to the changing rooms there was still mud everywhere so your feet ended up dirtier than before you went for the shower. Luxury toilets weren't as bad as the portaloos or compost toilets but they weren't very clean & they smelled horrendous. Think more staff are needed to keep on top of things. You can't charge that much for that service.
The phone charging service was a total rip off as well & did not do any of the things it advertised. They claimed a phone could be fully charged in 2 hours (ha!). My husband left his phone for 6 hours & it went up 1%. Another time when we went back for our phones we were told they hadn't charged them as a charger blew & they just hadn't plugged ours in anywhere else. Luckily I'd had enough by this point & was going home anyway but still not a great service, especially at that price!
The one saving grace was the food outlets. Some really great (if not a bit over-priced) on offer & you could get literally anything. I certainly ate more than I drank! The katsu chicken curry at one stall was to die for!
My first camping at a festival experience & unless I came in a motor home I wouldn't be back. I know mud & portaloos are all part of the experience but nobody likes to be sick everytime they go to the loo because of what the previous person has left behind! The first time I saw the portaloos being emptied was Saturday morning so by that time a lot of them were full :(

Didn't rate the line up (loved Thursday and the maniacs) and the last night headline was so uninspiring we left the festival early - would have preferred you nabbed 2 door from Y not and had them headline! The Brian Wilson slot bombed big time too and was kinda embarrassing to watch (so much so we went as far away from the main stage as possible to stop cringing) - buuuut the venue is stunning and the people super nice so I can deal with rubbish line ups when there's so much more to do

Let down compared to last year with regards to artists and mostly the weather which is out of everyone's hands I know but the lack of help from event staff when our camper got stuck was shocking not interested is an understatement bit disappointed 😔

Really disappointed about the lack of provisions made for the adverse weather.
We were in family camping which was also full of none families, also ridiculously far from the car park. Great when lugging all your gear with children, it took us an hour to make each trip when fully laden. Add the mud and you have an hour and a half round journey times 6!
Definitely our first and last festival!

Review of Kendal Calling 2017
The headliners were poor & seemed to be turning up for the cash, think it has become too big & forgotten its roots. Not as family friendly this year, more drunken youngsters & drugs despite sniffer dogs on gate. Maybe a few temporary pathways into arena especially from Emperors field & to disabled area as I saw numerous disabled people struggle to get to area. Not sure I'll be back after going for last 6 years, need some proper headline acts, Tinie Tempa?????

First time taking kids to a festival and can honestly say it was fantastic. Brilliant experience from start to finish we're all gutted to be home. Tickets are already booked for next year!! The best family friendly festival around. Line up was a bit disappointing but we made our own fun and got to see lots of new unknown bands. Hopefully next years main stage acts are a bit more current

Review of Kendal Calling 2017
As usual a lovely, friendly festival, however, the toilets were a disgrace this year. Not cleaned or stocked properly at all. I'm SO glad I didn't bring children! We had also purchased 'club passes' - we were not told that you can't use the 'Pretty Polly' toilets and after trying to were left feeling not only -bursting for a pee -but very annoyed with the jobs-worth who manhandled us from said area. £35 for 2 Not even clean toilts, isn't worth it- showers are £10 a shot (we couldnt find anymore)In general it's definitely not the cleanest festival. The mud was also horrific and no attempts were made to rectify it. I have been to many festivals up and down the country, I'm all seasons and wood chips, sawdust or hay all help... wading for hours everyday was certainly not enjoyable and left a lot of tired people in the campsite for a lot longer than they should be! I will come again as it's close to home but I will definitely never camp again. It's been exhausting and it really didn't need to be.

Terrible , waste of money! Used toilet 3 times the most expensive pee ever! Hot showers were miles away with huge queue! (So didn't bother) went to the miss Polly loos that didn't flush! Poor service , feel like it was misleading!
