Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
The 'ice' was in fact plastic tiles slotted together so the ice skates could not grip/glide or anything
Extremely disappointing-as numerous people in the queue commented
A complete waste of money and so upsetting for my granddaughter who thought that she was actually going ice skating
All anyone could do was walk around the small plastic square gripping on to the sides to avoid slipping over
We gave up after 15 minutes
Very, very disappointed with this event

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
Far too small to allow safe skating in fact the rink was so small we didn't go on, a complete waste of money considering I purchased 3 adult tickets before hand as pre booking was recommended!!! I won't be visiting or booking again.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
Just awful, was shocked by the size, 2 children refused to go on as made them feel claustrophobic, too many people for a tiny space.
I took one of their places and the other 2 children only agreed to go on as they didnt want to waste the tickets I had already purchased.
You couldn't even skate on it, friction going forward but no friction sideways, so its just impossible to skate on it, we have been ice skating a few times and this was nothing like ice skating, definitely not a profession rink. We went round once, holding the fence all the way round then got off.
Felt like I had been conned. I paid extra for refund option, which is pointless as you basically have to die or be hospitalised to get your money back. Never again!!

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
We did not do the ice skating, advertised as a professional ice rink and it was the same size as my bedroom. All little children on tiles of ice. Not even big enough to actually skate. Not what was expected at all and money wasted. Completely false advertising.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
Tiny little ring, with far too many people let on at the same time and the synthetic ice couldn't be skated on. Basically we all walked around a pen in circles for half an hour. Terrible.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
The Matlock market itself was great. We eventually found the "ice rink" after being told by the stewards there was no ice rink on. It was hidden in the middle.
It was effectively plastic squares slotted together to make a small area. Not slippy, not able to be skated on, just walking on plastic. My daughter just walked one lap and got off. Wouldn't recommend.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
Very disappointed with my experience. I understand it was an artificial ice rink but it was very small and not great for children who needed support from the penguins on the 'ice' as it was plastic it was difficult to move and majority of the plastic pieces wasn't in place properly so because a trip hazard. I thought it was very overpriced for what you got and wouldn't return again.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
The surface was very usual and extremely slippy. One of our party has ice staking lessons and they found this surface very challenging. Other users on the surface at the same time as us frequently fell. We would not chose to try a synthetic ice rink again.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
This was a great activity for younger children, with sweet little penguins and bears to help stay steady, but I would not recommend it for adults and those over 12, as the rink is not very big and the synthetic bit meabs you can't really get going on it. Also Skiddle did not offer an early refund option if plans change.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
We were very disappointed at the size of the 'ice' rink and as it was perspex tiles we were unable to skate(just step).
We ice skate often and have our own skates which we decided not to bring as we were also visiting the market and the price included hire.
The man giving out skates explained our own skates would have been sharpened and that was the reason we were unable to skate. I don't believe this to be true.
We stayed for 5mins and left.
Don't waste your money.

Review of Saturday - Ice Skating at Matlock Christmas Market
The Christmas market was lovely but the ice rink was a waste of money. It was the smallest ice rink I have ever seen and even though it said on the website 'synthetic ice rink' you never would have thought it would basically be plastic tiles on the floor. A very disappointing Ice rink!
