This was a superb festival in a great and welcoming town. The acts were just my thing- John Cooper Clarke, Henry Normal, Lemn Sissay to name a few, and a chance for writers to share their work. The Winter Gardens are undergoing restoration and are just the perfect venue.

The sound system left a lot to be desired. Also, the hall was freezing. That aside, the line up was great.

For us the sound system was so poor we could not hear and decipher the delivery, although the rest of the audience seem to be able hear what was being said.
As a result we got no enjoyment or benefit from the evenings performance and thus was waste of money.

Absolutely superb event wonderfully organised and with some of the best poets going. PA wasn’t the best on the first eve but this was rectified second eve. Just brilliant well done Matt!!

What a great event! Loved this festival of spoken word, the line up of poets was fantastic; moving, funny and inspiring. Both venues were great, staff friendly and such a beautiful community atmosphere. Would recommend to all, even if you aren’t a poetry buff - looking forward to next year.

A fantastic debut for a festival I hope will become an annual event. Lemn Sissay and Linton Kwesi Johnson were the names that secured my ticket purchase, but Joelle Taylor and Carla Mellor were amazing too.
