Review of Northampton Balloon Festival
Very easy to get to. Note to visitors next year - complete gridlock on **ttering Road going away from the town center (left at 5pm) - the only way back to Northampton was on foot. Spread out so no pushing and shoving. Arenas were large so it was easy to see the action. Felt safe. I couldn't stay till the end to see the balloons and fireworks :-( but took advantage of the high-adrenaline rides! I don't remember any bands, just extremely loud music from the rides.
Excellent value for money and good family fun - make sure you take advantage of the 'Earlybird' ticket prices.
To save money for a family, take a picnic, drinks and a blanket. Don't forget the suncream and sun hats for the kids.
NOTE - the ice creams are extremely expensive - £6 for a small cone, £7 for a large (and the large isn't that big at all!). Better to stock up on Ben and Jerry's or ice cream of choice at home and promise the kids a special 'knickerbocker glory' with sprinkles and syrup when you get back :-)
Going back next year (I live in London) and will stay to the bitter end this time!!!

Review of Northampton Balloon Festival
We went last year with the grandkids and it was amazing. Whilst still a great event this year the communication was confusing as gates opened later than advertised. The stunt acts were also incredible but very similar (last year there were horses) so a variety may be better next year. Plenty of toilets and refreshments without long queues and prices although a bit high were comparable with festivals and events. Disappointed that no balloons up before we had to leave but can't help the weather. Overall a great safe family event.
