Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Saturday
The set-up was very disappointing. Chairs weren't staggered, meaning that it was very difficult to see the acts, especially as I'm only 5 feet tall! The sound system was poor, so people at he back, which was a long way from the stage, had difficulty hearing anything. My suggestions for a top night: stagger the chairs; instead of having a rectangular tent, have a circular one, with chairs in a semi-circle so that people aren't a long way from the stage; provide a screen in case people can't see very well.; provide a better sound system. The gig was cancelled about an hour into it, due to lightning. My husband and I have been given tickets to a show in May instead. Please, please take on board my suggestions. Many thanks

Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Saturday
The event was cancelled half way through the show due to adverse weather. Regardless of the cancellation the show was setup very poorly we could not see the stage from our seats, I have paid less before for a much better experience. We have not yet been contacted about our refund!?

Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Saturday
The venue was great, with plenty of undercover seats, good choice of food and plenty of staff on the gate and behind the bar. It would have been helpful to know seats were provided beforehand as we weren't sure whether we needed to take our own. Unfortunately the weather was against us and for safety reasons the main event had to be cancelled. I felt it was very well handled and they did the best they could but we were very disappointed to miss Simon Brodkin, who was the main reason we were there.

Due to the weather and the event being in a pop up marquee, it was cancelled. However we've had no refund and no communication as to what's happening next. Shocking!!

Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Saturday
Let's start at the beginning. The area that you had to walk across to get to food, drink and the porta loos was not lit, very uneven and had holes in the grass. Porta loos, no lighting what so ever. They were filthy and stunk. It was ok for a man but not for women. Also nothing to wash your hands with. Drinks over priced £9 for a wine. Due to the uneven ground and on my way back to my seat stumbled with my drinks and split half of it. In the tent people were vaping and blowing the smoke into the back of peoples head. Staff saw did nothing. Then thunder and lighting
You can see from the other reviews what a s**t show that was. Not only did we get kicked out of the only shelter, you then made people stand in the rain for 20mins while you all decided what to do. I will not be attending any more gigs at the castle and I see from your site you don't do refunds. Well let me tell you, you will be refunding everyone who was let down by this shambles.

Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Friday
The VIP seats were 6.5 rows of deckchair's, which were added to as the evening went on to 7.5. This meant that the 'standard' seats were a long way back from the stage, which was a little disappointing. Also, with bad backs, we would have had difficulty getting in and out of them had we purchased. Other than that, the evening was very good, with a couple of fairly local support acts, leading to Nina Conti, who was excellent. A bit cool later on, bearing in mind the castle is in a raised position, so having the option of putting sides down on the marquee to block this out would be good in the future.

Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Saturday
After only 2 acts they cancelled the night due to poor weather and local thunderstorms. No way to contact them regarding refunds or rescheduling. Not heard anything from them yet. Not impressed with the communication

Review of Comedy at Nottingham Castle - Saturday
The biggest issue was the decision to ask everyone to go to the main gates - as the 2nd act was still on, because of the thunderstorms. This was a decision based on poor information / not science - we were not at risk under the marquee - any lightening strike would be sent down the legs of the marquee to the ground - anyone touching the metal would of course be at risk - but sending us outside in the rain, exposed to lightening was not a win. Also the way we were told was extremely poor, not a voice that felt it knew what it was doing and unclear on why or what or when - would we restart and what was the advantage of going down to the main gate - not enough information was shared. It was clear the messaging did not work as many of us choose not to move - a) because it didn't seem like an informed or clear decision and b) insufficient information was given about what would happen once we were all at the gate, why it was safer etc.
'Marquees may offer some protection from lightning if they are well-constructed and people can stay more than 3 meters away from a potential conductive path to ground'
Perhaps the decision to cancel in the end was the best one - but I'm expecting a refund!
