Review of neu waves 1st b\'day bash w/Langkamer/System Exclusive (US)/MakingEyes
Local band Making Eyes started the evening with their eclectic blend of jazz indie rock. Then came system Exclusive in a different vein with accomplished synth pop layered with guitar riffs and an uplifting voice. The highlight was Langkamer. Quirky tunes striking off into different beats almost at random but returning to a comical chorus. A band full of energy.

Review of neuwaves#42Been Stellar/Alien Chicks/Rose\'s Diary/FlorasBar&Gril
Expected more from Rose's Diary there interweaving tunes became muddled this time. The other 3 bands were superb from the punk politics of Flora's Bar and Grill to the wonderfully intense Alien Chicks backed by stunning drumming. . The headline act Been Stellar were outstanding though. Weezer like songs with moments of The Edge from U2 and more great drumming.

Review of neu waves #40Enjoyable Listens/Bollards/Maple Sky/James Laurence
Started with 2 local bands both showcasing fantastic voices and in Maple Sky a highly gifted set of musicians. Bollards were challenging with multiple tempo shifts masterminded by the drums. An excellent set. Enjoyable Listens were back with a full band which restricted his antics somewhat but what a voice.

Review of neu waves #39 Laundromat / Trip Westerns / Number 9 / SAHARA
Great bands! Only issue was crowd being loud/rude when the Headliners were playing, why do people decide to shout at each other while someone is performing? If you want to talk leave! That is no one's fault except the people being noisey though really.
Been to a few of these, and will go to more. Keep up the good work neu!

Review of neu waves #39 Laundromat / Trip Westerns / Number 9 / SAHARA
Number 9 was the first band up for me and once again they delivered. Trip Westerns followed with their energetic style bouncing along through their songs with verve. Good to welcome back Ellis D this time on drums. The headline act Laundromat had elements of Damon Alburn about them . The songs were invested with purpose and meaning. The melodies augmented by a mournful guitar. Another fantastic evening hosted by Neu Waves.

Review of neu waves #38 Porchlight / Ellis-D / TemplesofYouth / S0DDS
Saw 3 fabulous bands last night. Temples of Youth were as solid as ever with their Another Sky vibe and Ellis D brought a superb vocal range to their anarchic tunes. Not sure what I expected from Porchlight but they didn't disappoint. Full of energy and melodic dissonance they powered through their tumultuous set. Another fantastic night courtesy of Neu Waves.

Review of neu waves #37 Wesley Gonazelez/Speedboat/JJ Summer/Pilot Light
A real mixture of music, with Wesley Gonzalez headlining. The price is so good that it's worth going even if you don't know the bands playing. The chances are you're going to walk out being a fan of a new band, Wesley Gonzalez was mine today.
