Review of Salford Pride Presents: The Pink Picnic 2024
Our second year at this event and there is is only one negative from this year and that was the draconian rules (seemingly the councils) around single use plastics and I know there are lots of similar reviews stating the same! If the council are going to demand that there is "NO" single use plastic in a public park the the organisers of the event need to make this super obvious to the members of the public that will be attending next year's Ts and Cs need to say exactly what you can and can not bring and that will clear up any grey areas there were dozens of people around us having £100 of pounds of food taken off them and thrown into a bin! By some of the most obnoxious security staff I have ever encountered.
Rant over now.... The event was amazing so many people mixing together with no trouble at all which in this world is something to be proud of.

Review of Salford Pride Presents: The Pink Picnic 2024
A fun, casual event with two-star talent and a bad sound system, but it's very relaxed and fun and it's always so nice to see so many families enjoying a Pride event!
Unfortunately, this year, someone who doesn't know much about the environment attempted to implement an incredibly stupid policy around single-use plastics that didn't help the environment one iota. It meant that the outsourced security staff was taking food away from mothers with infants, and the no-glass policy meant no reusable glass water bottles.
People had to buy soda in single-use plastic containers (As always, sadly), put them in the recycling at home, then decant them into yet another container to bring in. An incredibly stupid policy that, if the organisers had thought more than two seconds about, they would have abandoned.
Good policies that help the environment are always welcome, but silly, not thought-out policies that do nothing but make attendees go through an extra step that, in the end, causes more harm, is just performative and exists for the sole purpose of organisers thinking it makes them look good.

people getting through barriers and not paying , i don't see why you can not bring bottles in you can do more damage with a metal can than a glass , i saw bottles of wine people were drinking so bags were not checked that much, but it is amazing venue and i like going to that pride very much,

A great day. It's getting busier which is good. The only criticism I have is that you can't see the stage from a large portion of the pink plus section which isn't good given the amount you pay to get in there.
